Hey Guys,
I have created a dashboard with a local sql server table data source, now i want to update the dashboard (change the data source table).
but the Edit Script button is disabled. is there any way to just export the charts and fields and layout to a new document and then add new data?
what else can i do?
thanks in advance
Hi
If the edit script button is disabled, then you probably have user access only to the document. If that is the case, you will not be able to update the script.
You can copy the sheet objects to a new document. Drag s selection box around several objects and select Edit Copy, and then right click on an empty sheet in the new document to paste the objects. You cannot create the fields in the new document without running a load script, so you will have to create the script.

Hi,
What kind of data source u would like to use.
I will recommend you before using any data source create QVD file and use same QVD files in a script.
Thanks
Hi,
why is the edit script disabled? Anyway, from what you explained, I inferred that you need frontend objects in a new dashboard. Just copy and paste them in the new document. In this new document u can, however, use 'edit script'.
HTH.

I like to use the same data source with a new table. assume i have a Customer Table which monthly gets updated.
I store this tables in SQL server and create dashboard by connecting Qlikview to the database.
Now that i want to change the table, the Edit Script button is disabled (I don't know why).
How to save the QVD file? just the dashboard and not the data?
I created this dashboard myself. and you are right. I wanted to restrict access to all the settings for other users but apparently i did it to myself. where can i enter the password i set earlier?
I assume that you created a section access table in your model. If you did, then did you have an ADMIN access account? Or only USER accounts?
Something to check - If you go to Settings | Document Properties, can you see a Security tab? If you can, check 'Admin Override Security' in that tab. That will enable editing the script.
