Above Function Month over Month

Hello I am attempting to do month over month variance using the ABOVE function, but I run into the issue of my January's not using the December of the previous years. The formula is simply  =NUM(Amt/ABOVE(Amt),'##.00%'). Any help would be appreciated.

Try this:

Num(Amt/Above(TOTAL Amt),'##.00%')
