Easy question about Detach

I'm not a newbie to QV, but I am not sure of the answer to this:

If I mark a chart as 'detached' can I assume that the chart is refreshed with the latest loaded data and then detached from all selections subsequently ?

Detaching a chart basically just removes it from being altered by selections made while it is in this state.  As soon as the document data is reloaded the 'Detached' status is removed.
