Error: Failed to Generate QVW Files... Empty Path Name is Not Allowed.

Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to address an intermittent issue that we have been experiencing with one of our scheduled applications.

Upon reviewing the logs, we have observed the occurrence of the error mentioned in the subject line: "Failed to generate QVW Files... Empty path name is not allowed."

We are keen to thoroughly analyze and replicate the conditions under which this error occurs.

We are curious to know whether this error is indeed triggered by the presence of whitespace or similar characters in the path.

Our goal is to identify the root cause of this error and understand its underlying mechanism.

We kindly seek your expertise and guidance on how best to approach this situation.

Your insights would greatly assist us in diagnosing and resolving this issue.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

We eagerly await the valuable input from the Qlik community experts.

Thanks & Regards.

Hi @qwebnm,

Can you post the full task log of the failed reload?

What is the QlikView Server/Publisher full build version ( e.g. 12.70.20200)?

Is this issue occurring with only one specific reload task?

Is this a 'loop and reduce' task?

Is there enough disk space available so that the Publisher can create the temp file?

If this same QVW file is reloaded in QV Desktop, is it successful?

Is there any pattern to which this error is returned?

Best Regards

친애하는 Chip_Matejowsky 님 ,

2. QlikView Server/Publisher

Chip_Matejowsky.

Hi @qwebnm,

Unfortunately, the screen capture you provided isn't readable when zoomed in on. To adequately troubleshoot the issue, the full log will be needed.

A Loop and Reduce task refers to a specific type of task where the QVW file can be split into several copies with reduced data of the original QVW, specified to end user security permissions. Refer to the QlikView Help entry Loop and Reduce for more information. So, is this task a Loop and Reduce task?

Your original description stated this issue is intermittent, but in in point 7, you state that the error remains consistent. Does that mean that this error is returned each and every time this task is run?

As the reload is successful when run via QlikView Desktop but fails when run via Publisher task, suggest that you logon to a computer with the QlikView Server/Publisher service account and reload the task via QlikView Desktop to see if there is a permissions issue.

Best Regards

Dear Chip_Matejowsky,

First and foremost, I extend my gratitude for your consistent support and assistance.

1. Log:
May I provide the complete logs by taking a photograph?
while I'm uncertain about the feasibility due to security concerns, I Will request the logs once again and inform you accordingly.

2. Looping and Reduction:
I encountered difficulty in accessing the reference link you provided about looping and reduction.
Is there an alternative link available?
Additionally, I have been dividing a single qvw into multiple tasks for scheduling.
while I'm not entirely sure about the rationable behind this approach, it might relate to addressing potential performance issues.
Could you confirm if your comments were referring to this?

3. Consistency:
In QMC -> Status -> Tasks -> Show Task Detail, I've observed instances where the same task alternates between failed and successful execution.
When the task fails, the error message consistently appears.

4. Permission Issue:
I will carry out testing using Qv Desktop through the QlikView Server/Publisher service account and will provide you with the results.

Should you have any additional guidance to offer, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best Regards
