Pass Variable Values in URL

Hi,

I need to construct URL to my QVW in Accesspoint. On the QVW, I have certain objects being shown/hidden  to replicate tabs. How can I create a URL such that, when a user clicks on the URL, it also passes variable values to the Accesspoint QVW and hides/shows those objects?

I looked at this article but this does not talk about variables. Also, this does not seem to work for objects either.
