QlikView 12.60 – QVS Service Not Starting / License Connection Error

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing an issue with QlikView Server (version 12.60).

When starting the environment, the QlikView Server (QVS) service does not start successfully. As a result, I receive the following error:

Server failed to set license: QVS@server: Failed to connect to server

From my initial checks:

  • The QVS service fails to start
  • The license is not being set
  • This seems to be related to a connectivity or configuration issue with the QlikView Server

At the moment, I am trying to understand whether the problem is related to:

  • License configuration
  • QlikView Management Service (QMS)
  • Certificates or service dependencies
  • Network/connectivity issues toward QVS

Has anyone encountered a similar issue with QlikView 12.60?
Any suggestions on where to focus the troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Does it work before? If yes, what has changed within the environment?

Unfortunately, the company does not have active maintenance, so I don't think I can proceed with any updates.

I am not very familiar with how it works, but I believe the internal Qlik instance needs to contact the server to obtain license validation. Is this still possible?

If your maintenance has expired, you can only use up to the last version within the paid maintenance period.

What is the enddate in the licence ?

If you enter the LEF manually you won't need to validate the license.

The problem is probably caused by some recent Microsoft Patching.

If so, I don't think you have any other solution than removing the microsoft patches on the domain controller, which would be a security risk.

Microsoft deprecated RC4 in their environment.

You can disable RC4 in QlikView, but you'll need at least 12:70 SR1: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/Disable-RC4-stream-cipher-in-QlikView-May-20...

You can try and check if your current license allows you to run 12.70 (it might be possible).

If not, I suggest that you can contact the Qlik sales team to get a trial of Qlik Cloud: we have a new great converter which can be used to automatically move all of your QlikView apps to the your tenant.
