How to recover?

This is by design. Once recovery attempts are over, previously created files can't be opened. New files can be created and opened.

Not sure if this will help but I had a similiar problem where I am using Personal edition on my laptop, doing the tutorial, saved a file and exited.  When I tried to open the file i got the "license" error.  I am using version 11.20.12018.0 SR3 64 bit edition.  I noticed that in the directory where I had saved the file an new folder had been created.  eg if my file was called mydoc.qvw then there is a corresponding directory called mydoc, this directory has some xml files and what not - I found that if I deleted this directory the mydoc.qvw file opens.  Hope this helps and hope it is not a bug "that gets fixed" as it is quite frustrating creating files and then not being able to open them.
