Restricting selection while Document Chaining

Hi Team, I have successfully implemented document chaining with transfer of state from one QVW to another. However, my client wants everything except one selection  to transfer. I know in document chaining this is the downside that you don't have a control on what to pass and what not.

But is there anything that can be done where I can restrict selections? If so, could you provide me an example?

Can you simply add a clear field trigger on the document open of the chained document?

I tried that already but it didn't work because in document chaining when you transfer state all selections from the first document are transferred to the second document. We don't have a control over which selections are transferred.
