mini chart totals not displaying properly

I have a straight table with a column showing sparklines as shown below.  However, the total (Scotland) row at the bottom is showing as a number rather than a sparkline.  Is there a way to get the expression total to display as a sparkline?

What have you picked as your total mode? Is it sum of the rows? If it is, then try to change it to expression total and see if that helps

I have tried expression total, sum of rows and other ways of summing but none show a sparkline unfortunately.
