odbc\oledb connection?

Hi Experts,

Try..

I have qlikview and oracle  and sql server installed in my lap tap.

Now i want connect from my qlikview to oracle using both OLEDB and ODBC connection.

I am trying to create DSN setup in my lap ?

when i go for system dsn setup  it is asking few details like

name

description

server

here name i can enter and description also but i am having doubt what to enter in server.

i dont know like whether i required any driver to install here ?

i have already installed oracle,sql  in my laptap but still i cant get any name to enter in server.


Any one can explain me in detail here .i want to learn here what is the process going on


i have seen the videos also but still not clear


can anyone guide me on this ?

First of all ,

If you have installed oracle in your laptop , no need to download any extra driver for connection because by default it install ODBC driver .

if you dont have oracle installed , then you need to download ODBC/OLEDB driver for Oracle and install in your laptop.

And then try to created DSN.

And in DSN , you should know the Hostname and port and UserID and password for your  database, to which you want to connect.

And as you said you have already installed SQL server installed then you can create DSN for SQL Server DB.
