Create a report that can be edited?

Hi,

I have a request that the reports that come out of our Qlik Cloud Automated Reports be editable (As in, someone can open the PDF and alter the text), so that changes can be made prior to sending them onward.

Is this possible? I'm fairly sure the answer is no, so, does anyone have any ideas for a good workaround? I have one that would work, but I'm hoping someone has something easier / more maintainable than what I have in mind.

HI @Richard_Norris

If you want users to update PDFs  then I dont think this is possible directly from PDF files. I mean there are no editable text placeholders which can come out from reporting like the ones you would see on editable PDF forms. Once that document is created is not longer editable.

It would be good to understand what your idea is as maybe we can simplify the workaround you are trying to use.

cheers

I will just add that we can have reports sent out as XLSX and PDFs. Given that you still want to edit PDFs I dont see a problem sending XLSX so people can edit it and then print it to PDF?

Oh, how do you send out XLSX? In the report generator automation I'm only given the option of PDF or PPT?

My workaround his horrendous. Essentially give the user an override document (that I would make look as close to the report as possible) and read that doc in as a ton of variables, along with the actual data, and update all my calculations to use the variable data if present or if not the calculated data. So, a manual override on load. Horrific.

Is there a reason you are using automation and not Tabular reporting which supports XLSX and PDF? https://help.qlik.com/en-US/cloud-services/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/Reporting/design-tabular...

Tabular reporting as a solution is a lot easier to manage and distribute so depending what you are trying to achieve it may be as simple as designing the template and running it.
