DI 7.1.1 Backwards Compatability

I'm trying to develop for Java 1.6. In preferences, I've tried changing to 1.6 under "Installed JREs" and "Compilers", the latter of which prompts me for a full rebuild.

First, I get a '<>' operator not allowed error even when I create a new job.

Second, the "Compilers" preference change isn't persistent (it resets to my default 1.8 every time I quit and relaunch).

Hello,

You cannot generally downgrade. To backup, you should login to the project, right-click any repository item, select Export Items and export all to a zip.

So far, your studio V 7.1.1 will use JDK 1.8

Best regards

Sabrina

Your answer implies that it's impossible to developed for 1.6 using the latest TOS DI release - is this correct? If so, what's the latest release that WILL enable me to develop for 1.6? Why are there options to swap out different compilers and JDK's?

Hello,

Java 8 is currently the recommended Java version for all Talend products and modules since v6.0. Although you can still use Java 7, Java 8 is the only version of Java that is officially supported from Talend v6.0 onwards, due to the end of Oracle support for Java 7.

Please refer to this online installation guide about:TalendHelpCenter:Compatible Java Environments

for V 7.1.1

Best regards

Sabrina
