Retrieving Schema from AS400 with DDS tables

Hi, 

I am currently running Talend Version: 7.0.1, on a Mac.  Connecting to an AS400 V6R1 schema.  I am able to retrieve the tables that were created via SQL.  However, am having issues retrieving tables that were created via DDS (data description specifications).  Is there a way to retrieve these in a similar fashion or is there some workaround?

Thanks for the quick reply. 

Yes, that sounds like something we're looking for.  Unfortunately not too familiar with DDS but we'd like to pull in the tables that were created in DDS somehow since there are a lot of them.   Was going to try adding one manually (tDBInput) to see if that works since i noticed that i can actually query the table through TOS.

Hi Sabrina,

appreciate the follow up. Yes! that worked adding them manually,a bit of a pain with the number of tables we're dealing with but I was able to connect to the AS400 via squirrel SQL and view the entire schema that way so should be fine for now.  

The feature will definitely be appreciated so that i don't have to go back and forth to another tool to view the schema.  

Didn't realize there was a voting option, just voted for it.

what is the latest version of talend that will work properly with as400 tables created via dds?

i have tried 7.x - does not work

i have tried 6.5  - does not work

i have tried 5.6 - WORKS!!!

i want to use the latest version of talend but feel that is not possible since it no longer will properly access table on my as400 mainframe.

thoughts?

am i missing something?

Hello.

Having same problem here.

With TOS 6.4.1 I was able to retrieve schema of my AS400 database (OS/400 V6R1).

With TOS 7.0.1it doesn't work anymore. Only few files are shown in the selection list.

Despite this, components ar working fine.

But it's very irritating having to use the old TOS for retrieveing schema, saving it to file and import it in TOS 7.

Any help would be appreciated to deal with this problem.
