Auto generated Longitude_Latitude field not appearing as option in Location field

Hi,

I'm following along the Data Architect Learning Plan. I am currently in section 'Understanding the Data Modeling User Interface', in the subsection 'Introduction to the Data Manager'. From this section, the video titled 'Geodata Derived by the Data Manager' shows how the Data Manager recognizes existing Longitude and Latitude fields from data added to the app, and creates a new field called 'Longitude_Latitude' with the syntax needed for map visualizations. So far, so good. I can see this generated field in my table too.

Then, the video shows how this new field can be applied to a map visualization. After creating a new sheet, adding a map to the sheet, creating a new point layer and adding 'Customer' as the dimension in the 'Data' property of the map (on the right panel), the video instructs to click 'Location' and use the arrowhead to search for the generated field 'Longitude_Latitude'. Here's where I'm stuck. This field does not appear under the list of fields. See below what I get:

As opposed to what I'm supposed to get (from the training video):

How can I fix this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Hi PaoHL, If you go back to the datamanager and edit the InternationalApparelData.xlsx, and scroll to the right do you see the column Longitude_Latitude?

Also make sure you edit

Customers - InternationalApparelData.xlsx

If not your association was not correct according to the video.

Hi Ala, thanks for your reply. Yes, I can see the auto generated 'Longitude_Latitude' column in the Customers table. It was one of the first things I checked, so that's why not seeing the field seems strange to me.

Hi PaoHL, thank you for the update. I am not sure why it is not working for you. It is working ok for me. I would suggest creating a new app to try again.

I alreadz tried creating a new app. I am also not sure why it is not working for me. Is there anything I need to do that I might have missed. As far as I understood, all I needed to do was load the data, check that the auto-generated column was in the Customer’s table, and insert a map with a point layer, which is what I did.

I uploaded all sheets in the xlsx. But the column ‘Longitude_Latitude’ that I’m talking about is in the table/sheet ‘Customers’. I’m attaching a screenshot underneath.

PS: The file path to the xlsx under the name of the table ‘Customers’ looks like that because I’m following along using the Qlik Sense Training environment of my employer, whose instruction is to not upload the training files, but rather use the files which are already saved to a folder that has been pre-loaded by them to the Training Hub.

Are you using on Prem or SaaS?

Did you disable the advance option view?
