Background color changes when I change the image

In the app overview we change the app image and the background color changes.  What's driving this - qlik, css, browser ?  can we force the color with a theme ?

Yes this is a standard function. within Qlik. the browser here isn't where that is changed.

this leaves Qlik and css.

so the Qlik engine doesn't changes this at all. And if I remember correctly anything Qlik doens't changes this.

this leaves CSS, there are multiple css Qlik uses for QlikSense. 

with themes you can change a lot. but I don't think you can't change the color of the starting app where you can see the sheets. 

if you want to changes this I think that the dominant color within the tumbnail is the color you are going to get. 

other than that try experimenting with different tumbnails

I've been able to make some changes to the overview - fonts, background colors, simple things but we're trying to brand the app and this image/bg thing is odd.  it looks like it does take the dominant color but at times some images do not affect the bg.   never heard of a css style/function that does this.  I'll research a bit more but likely it will not be worth the effort.
