Colour by expression

Is it possible to use colour by expression on a field that is not used in a chart ?

Normally you would use the dimension added to the scatter graph but what I want to do is use a different dimension to create the colour.

You can, but there should be some relation between your dimension and the dimension you are using for coloring it.

I am using 2 tables joined with a primary key.

The first table will be used as for the x,y and measure in the scatter graph and the 2nd table contains the field I would use to filter out the points on the graph that I want colouring in the colour by expression
