Date Field does not import as a date in data manager

I am currently connecting to an Oracle Database for my data. I have a table called SD_WR and two different date fields named "DATE_REQUESTED" and "DATE_COMPLETED." Both are defined as "Date/Time" in Access and are both formatted as "mm/dd/yyyy"

However, when I load the data in Qlik, it identifies "DATE_COMPLETED" as a valid date, but designates "DATE_REQUESTED" as general within the data manager. Whenever I attempt to change it to date within the data manager, it deletes out all values within the field.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

I have the exact same problem, but still not sure how to resolve this.
