Dev changes are not reflected when the app is published

Hi!

Two days ago I made some changes to two apps, but when I published them, I couldn't see the corrections.I ended up having to publish a new version of the app to fix it...has this happened to anyone else? Do you know why? I'm worried this will keep happening because I have apps that call other apps, and this could affect many apps.

Thanks,

Isaac

Hi @IsaacC,

thanks for sharing this! To better understand what happened and help you prevent it from occurring again, could you answer a few questions?

  1. Are you using Qlik Cloud or Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows?
  2. Are the apps published in a shared or managed space?
  3. When you say you "made changes", did you edit the apps directly in the published space or in a personal copy?
  4. What was your exact publishing process? Did you use "Move to space", "Publish", or did you replace an existing app?
  5. Did you reload the apps after publishing before checking the changes?
  6. Were other users also unable to see the corrections, or was it just you?
  7. Did the old version keep showing for everyone or only for some users?
  8. When you published the new version, did the changes appear immediately?

Your answers will help us identify whether this was a caching issue, an incorrect publishing step, or something specific to your environment.

Looking forward to your response!

@kallnascimento Hi, thanks for the quick answering.

1.I am using Qlik Cloud.

2.I usually develop the app in shared spaces and the I publish in managed spaces.

3.I mean, I made changes in a copy, and then I replace the published app.

4.···-->Admin-->publish into space -->replace the existing one

5.I tried to refresh apps before I pulish, and it is the same issue.

6.Nobody is able to see the corrections.

7.They all see the app the same as before.

8.Yes, immediately.

Thanks for the details! The process you described sounds correct, so to narrow down the root cause I have one additional question:

When you say you "made changes in a copy", was that copy created by duplicating the original source app in the shared space, or was it a different app that you used as a starting point?

The reason I ask is that in Qlik Cloud, published apps maintain a parent-child relationship with the original source app. If that relationship is broken, updates may not propagate correctly to the published version even when the replace process appears to complete successfully.

If the copy you worked on was not recognized by Qlik Cloud as the original source app, that could explain why the changes did not show up after replacing.

I use a new app as a starting point. Then, I develop this new app in a shared space and finally, I publish the app in a managed space. So, I think there aren't a parent issue.

Yes, I had the same issue in a project last year. I wasn’t able to find the real cause either, I was only told it was some kind of bug. I’m interested in the responses to this as well.
