Download button extension

Hi,

On my current project, we have requirements to provide functionality that allows users to download files from the server.

Files are stored on the server, my first idea was using download attribute, as an example: 

<a href="/images/myw3schoolsimage.jpg" download>, but it doesn't work with local files I got an issue.

Do you have any ideas of a possible solution?
