A member of my team has duplicated a published app to work on, and the drop down menus for "Prepare" (Data Load Editor and Data Model Viewer) and "Analyze" (Sheet and Insights) are unavailable. If you try to access them, you get a warning message that says, "You do not have access to the data model viewer. The reason for this may be related to permissions, that your device is not supported, or that the app is published or read-only". However, we can still create and edit sheets.
I've replicated the same app (from the published version) and got the same results.
I have also checked the User access for the apps in question.
Lastly, I have duplicated other apps and not had the same problem occur
That sounds like the default behavior for a published application when you are not the application owner. We had to create security rules for our developers.
I agree, however the Developers have working security rules and it doesn't happen to every app
