Hi,
How can I open an app with current month selected? (Why are things so long winded in QS).
Or where is the ****** save option on edit sheet?
I've tried opening two versions in separate browsers, selecting the month in one and then going into the other and saving in script editor (where is save in edit sheet), still doesn't work. Simple thing, why not add action options like QV.
I've tried bookmarks and it still doesn't work, I'll activate the bookmark on, save and hope it opens with the bookmark on.
Thanks
Ok, I've tried many times, not working at all.
This is the fourth time you've said it's "not working" without providing any details, so I really don't know how to try and help you from here. Maybe someone else can help...
I know, sorry.
I guess I'm hoping for someone who has also had this issue.
You haven't explained what the issue is. It's just "not working"...
Try adding a sample app, or if you can't do that, screen captures of the steps you are taking and the result you are getting (and explain what the expected result would be). I'm happy to try and help but I'm flying blind without any actual information.
Thanks for your patience.
* I'm selection on a month- year field in a filter pane, for example I'm selecting Mar-2021.
* Then I'm creating a new bookmark called "Test"
* Going into the script, press the spacebar to save changes.
* Close the app
* Go to Hub and reopen the app
* The app should open with all the charts in Mar-21, they are opening with all the previous months.
Hope this is more clear.
I've tried in another test app, again, doesn't work.
It sounds like you've skipped the most important step - setting the bookmark as default. After creating the bookmark, open the bookmark menu, right-click the bookmark, and select "Set as default bookmark".
Note that if you want the selection to be dynamic rather than static (that is, always select the current month), you'll have to make your selection as a formula rather than a static selection:
Open the search box for the field
Type in e.g. =MonthYear=Max(total MonthYear)
Check that the correct value is showing up and press "Enter" (don't select the value using your mouse, use enter on the keyboard). If it isn't showing up correctly, you may need to adjust the formula, formatting, or whatever else, but this is standard Qlik behavior so I'm sure you can get it done.
When you create a bookmark with this selection, confirm that the bookmark shows up with the formula rather than with the static value of Mar-21. That will ensure Qlik applies the *formula* rather than the *value* each time the bookmark is applied.
Ok cool, getting somewhere now, what if the field I want as default is a text string?
for example
Date Type = 'Month'
Whatever you can do in a selection (using either a regular selection or a formula), you can save as a bookmark, so I imagine this wouldn't be a problem. In the case of a fixed string like that, just select 'Month' from the 'Date Type' field, no need to apply formulas if it's not meant to be dynamic.
Thank you so much, I read up different articles and videos and not one of them mentioned this bit "It sounds like you've skipped the most important step - setting the bookmark as default. After creating the bookmark, open the bookmark menu, right-click the bookmark, and select "Set as default bookmark"."
Thanks, It's easy once you know how
Most things are easier when you know how! (-;
It's in the documentation, but perhaps the tutorials/videos you found are older and predate the option to add default bookmarks, which was introduced about 18 months ago and didn't originally exist in Qlik Sense.
