How to replace previous data file with new data file in Qliksense

Hi,

I recently started creating dashboards using Qliksense. I am manually uploading the standalone data ,but  I am unable to replace an existing data (excel file) with a new file .Please advise.

Thanks in advance!

To replace the data in a spreadsheet with a new spreadsheet of data, do the following:

I was struggling to replace an Excel file that I had uploaded to Qlik Cloud with a new version of the same spreadsheet.  A wise user could also use these instructions to upload a new spreadsheet.  Here are the steps:

  • Insure that the format of the new spreadsheet has the same format as the old spreadsheet.  If you are replacing an existing spreadsheet, make sure the new spreadsheet has the same name.
    • You might want to keep a copy of each spreadsheet that you upload, or at least the most recent ones, so that you can compare the formats, and troubleshoot if necessary.
  • From the Analytics screen, press the “+ Create” menu option found beneath the “Home” menu option.
  • From the section labeled “Data and Upload”, select “Dataset”
    • A screen will appear that might show a collection of connections, depending upon your application privileges.
  • In the upper right corner of the “Connections” screen, press the  button labeled “Upload data file”.  An “Add file” will appear.
  • In the bottom of the “Add file” applet, choose the Space to which you want to upload a file.   Find the file that you want to upload on your computer and drag the file to the upload space labeled “Drop your files here”.
    • If you are replacing a file that already exists, be sure to click the “Replace file?” checkbox.
      • If you are expecting to replace an existing file but you don't see a warning, you may have a difference in your file name or target space.
    • Press the “Upload and analyze” button
    • A window will appear at the bottom of the screen showing the upload progress.
  • When the upload is complete, you should see a “Complete” message appear.
  • At this time, you can reload any dashboards that rely upon the uploaded file.  If you receive load errors, examine the load error messages and compare the file format of the file just uploaded with your older file versions for any inconsistencies.  Pay particular attention to the column order and names.

The new, enhanced data file management tools in Qlik Cloud Analytics makes my previous post obsolete.  The documentation for the new tools can be found here, and includes a new mechanism to upload files:  Support-Updates/New-Efficiently-Manage-Your-Local-Qlik-Cloud-Analytics-Data
