Label in Selection Bar

Hello Everyone,

Greetings for the Day!

I'm using calculated Dimension in Bar Chart in Qlik Sense using Toggle Buttons (used Variable Extension).
1. Category
2.Region
The Chart is responding per selection (List of value from the Field is selected) but my "Selection Bar" on top of the UI showing the formula instead of the Field Label.
PFA the snapshot for the same.

Kindly help please.

Hi Pradnya,

This is because you created a calculated dimension. If you don't want this, create this in the script. Use the same formula, but end the sentence with as [YourFieldName].

Hi,

If you add the expression as a Dimension in master items and put a label there then it should pick up that name and show instead of the expression.

Regards.

Patrik.

Hi Patrik,

this is exactly what isn’t happening (QlikSense Feb. 2024, Patch 7):

Master element:

Selection bar:

DatinexPeyman_1-1743068295224.png

The dimension (master elemnt) has a name, has a lable, but on the selection bar QS shows the expersion behinde it.

Have you ever tested it yourself? Or is this only your assumption? Or it is changed since 2019?

Thank you for you support in advance!

Best regards
Peyman

Hi Peyman,

For a label from the master dimension to be used the dimension has to be of the type "field on the fly". Looking at your expression I believe it's rather a "calculated dimension". You can read more about the different types here: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Design/Calculated-Fields/ba-p/1694383

In the November 2024 release we made changes so that calculated fields will also work with labels in selection bar

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense/November2024/Content/Sense_Helpsites/WhatsNew/What-is-new-Nov2024....

So hopefully it will work for you when once you upgrade to that release or a later one.

Best regards

Patrik.
