Placing multiple colors in a waterfall chart

Hello, good afternoon.

Does anyone know how to change the colors of metrics in a waterfall table? I haven't been able to figure out how to change them by expression, and I need to apply more than three colors.

I tried the variance waterfall but it is based on one dimension, Could someone support me?

Thank you very much!

Short answer: with the native waterfall you’re pretty limited.

Right now you only get the built-in color options (single color, by measure, by positive/negative/total). There isn’t a way to assign a fully custom palette or more than a few distinct colors per bar like you can in bar/line charts.

If you absolutely need many specific colors per step, people usually either:

  • Switch to a bar chart + offset “fake waterfall” (where you can color by expression), or

  • Use a custom extension that supports full color-by-dimension/measure control.
