Qlik Sense Desktop does not save apps anymore

I have installed Qlik Sense May 2025 Patch 10 since 3 months now. The application was working fine until recently but now it is unable to save any application after loading some data. I can say that

  • There is a lot of disk space available.
  • The read/write permissions are also in place.
  • All of the paths are much less than 260 characters.
  • I have reinstalled the app recently as well but it still gives the following error:

Has anyone else faced this issue before? Or do you know how to fix this?

Please let me know if you need any more information.
Thank you.

This error is caused by the Engine not having access (permission) to write to the local storage.

1. Ensure the application is running as Administrator

2. If your Documents folder is synced to OneDrive:

  • Pause OneDrive or

  • Exclude:Documents\Qlik

  • Or move Qlik Sense Desktop storage off OneDrive entirely

Before loading data, the app saves correctly?

Hi @SrikarSiddarth !

Any chance you might have installed a update/patch from Microsoft, before the issue started happening?
Or anything else? Do you have antivirus exclusions for the Qlik Sense Desktop app location folder?

Thank you very much for the quick response, the Qlik Sense Desktop is now saving the apps properly after running it as administrator.

Thank you for the quick response, there were some updates regularly. But I was able to save apps even without run as admin until recently.

Hi @SrikarSiddarth ,

if the apps are stored in the standard path under the User profile's folder, running it as an administrator should not be necessary.
If by any chance you use a different folder which is not under the user's home, then it might be that a Windows update messed up the permissions.
