Replace a quote (') with a blank

How do I replace a quote (') in a text field with a space ( )? I want to lookup the city, but my lookup file contains 'O Fallon' for the city O'Fallon. I tried to use replace([City],''',' ') but that did not work. Is there an escape character?

Replace(City, Chr(39), ' ')

PurgeChar (City,Chr (39))
