What is system fields for?

In the Qliksense manual, the system fields are like:

My question is, what is the use of system fields?

I know if you put =$Field as dimension, it will display all the fields. But what about those can't be used as a dimension, like $system and $numeric?

The screenshot you posted lists System tags not system fields. Tags may not be referenced in chart expressions.

I can't find a manual page that looks like what you posted. Is it edited? If not, which product level are you looking at? Can you post a link?

That version of the documentation is incorrect.  More recent versions are correct.
