What is the Assets panel for?

We have upgrade our Qlik on prem from May 2023 to Nov 2024 patch 8. My team is trying to understand what is Asserts panel for? Is it worth it to hide it for end user?

I'm not fully agreeing with @Chanty4u in this case. The assets panel you are showing is a new thing in QSEoW from version November 2024. For regular users, bookmarks and sheets show up there. Like you @Noor51, I'm kind of curious about this as well. Right now it seems the only things in there are bookmarks and sheets, so I suppose we could choose to have either the assets panel or the separate buttons for bookmarks and sheets. Or keep them all. There's also a new navigation object, so one could hide the sheets button and let users only navigate using that object.

I haven't really decided on how I want to do in our apps. Would like to hear other people's thoughts about this as well.

Assets panel refers to the left-hand panel in the sheet editor where you find:

Fields (from your data model)

Master items (dimensions, measures, visualizations)

Charts and objects to drag onto the canvas

Custom objects (extensions, buttons, KPIs, etc.).

Yes you can hide it for users as they don't develop anything.

Can you hide it and still access all that when editing sheet?

@henrikalmen Currently we are still going to keep it the asset panel intill be understand it for our team and are adding navigation object to all the sheet right. I wish the would also show community sheets bc we have a lot of them.

Are community published sheets not showing among the sheets in the assets panel/sheet panel?

The community sheet don't show in the new navigation object.

Oh! I do think the navigation objects needs a lot more options. For example a possibility to exclude sheets or a sheet group. And apparently an option to include, or exclude, community sheets.

Also, in my opinion empty sheet groups should not be visible to regular users (for example a sheet group where all the sheets are hidden from the current user).
