Lock/Unlock Problem
We added the Lock/Unlock icon to several list boxes, but we experience trouble with the functionality after a field has been Unlocked. In the example below, I have selected a Dept ID where there are no Faculty members associated with it. Normally, in QlikView, I can click on “Faculty” anyway and I will drop the Dept ID 101449 from my selections and add Faculty instead; this is good. If I lock the Dept ID field, and click on “Faculty” it will keep the Dept ID 101449 and not select “Faculty”; this is good locked functionality. But if I UNLOCK the Dept ID field and click on “Faculty” it will not go back to normal QlikView functionality where it allows me to select the grayed out value that was formerly locked. The behavior remains as if the field were still locked even though it is not.
These things have not fixed the problem: closing out and restarting my browser; adding an “unlock all” button/trigger; clearing my cache. In fact, the problem is present in the desktop version.
Please advise.
instead of that u can create a boomark for that
Thank you. I use bookmarks a lot, but I don't think they will help in this particular situation. We really do want the "lock" functionality, but once we have UNLOCKED the field, we want to return to native QlikView functionality -- where you can choose a value that has been grayed out.
Looks like a bug with all unlocking. Thinking maybe just the caption version of the unlock wasn't quite working, I tried a trigger on the unlock of the field to... well... unlock the field. But that didn't work either. Neither does a regular lock and unlock. Interestingly, if you select more than one gray value, it seems to take the second one selected, and then everything's fine. Very strange.
QV seems to remember those values that were mutually exclusive during the locked phase. So all combinations of explicit selections of grey, caused by a locked field selection, will be remembered 'forever', or at least until the next reload.
Can't reproduce this .. on QV12 desktop.
Have someone seen this in QV12? And is able to upload a small sample to check that not my data model is somewhat different?
I'm in QV11 still, so perhaps it's fixed in QV12. That would make sense, at least.
It seems to be intermittent in this QVW, but I can trigger it reliably with the following sequence - open the QVD, select X = A. Lock field X. Try to click on gray value B1. Unlock X. Try to click on gray value B1 again. It still won't let you, as if it is still locked. At least in my version of QV11.
Looks like it is an issue in QV 11 that has been resolved in QV12, according to Qlik support. Received the following message from Qlik support.
"...Your issue as described below has been reported to our R&D department with ID QV-6355.
I will advise if the issue is confirmed as a bug as well as any other developments in this regard. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience and let me know if you have any questions. ..."
