Hi,

I have 4 qvw files and I need to assign one qvw file to one user as document CAL after completed assigning he is able to see all the four documents in access point and he is logging through single signon . Could anyone help me how to assign document CAL only to see the qvw file which is assigned to him instead of all.

Thanks.

Hi,

     OK now let me explain with example.

     Say I have two Applications 1. Sales and 2. Inventory.

     Now I have 3 Users, Say User1, User2 and User3.

     The Authorization is as follows.

     User1 -> only Sales

     User2 -> only Inventory

     User3 -> Both.

     Now what I will do first is Assign the Document CAL's to the users and document.

     What will happen in this scenario is All users will see all applications, but when they click on the application, the application will open only if that user has proper license.

     Now requirement is User should see the application which they are authorized to.

     Due to the Windows Security, "Users" group will be included in the security of the file.

     What needs to be done is, remove the Users Group from security. And Add the users who are authorized to see the application.

     So in our example

     1. Sales application will have User1 and User3 included in security Tab.

     2. Inventory application will have User2 and User3 included security Tab.

     So User1 will see only Sales application, User2 will only Inventory and User3 will see both applications.

Hi,

     I guess you have assigned him the Named CAL license.

     Named CAL license holder can see all the document.

     So if this is true, that you have assigned the Named CAL license, remove it and then go to Document Tab -> Select the document for which you want to assign the CAL -> here you will see the tab Document CAL

     Here assign the user the CAL.

     One more thing, when you remove any license which is used by user, it will take almost 24 hours to release the license.

Hi Amelia,

If you are using Active Directory to login you can set the NTFS permissions on the actual qvw files on your server

to prevent users from seeing the documents in the accesspoint.

We use this method to hide documents that just create qvd files or documents that are being tested from users.

If you are using section access in your documents there is an interesting option in the document properties->server tab : 'Filter AccessPoint Document List Based on Section Access' which might be worth trying.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kaushik,

Thanks for this. But that user name is not in System->licenses->client Access Licence->assigned CAL.

Instead he is in under Document CAL. In this case how to assign the user to see only one document which is assigned to user.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply. we have NTFS permissions but I don't have any section access to any documents. In this case how to filter in the access point to allow him to see only one document.

Hi,

     Do you mean to see the document on access point.

     There are two things for this.

     1. If your security mode is DMS then you can do this under Document ->Select Document ->Authorization Tab.

     2. If your security mode is NTFS then you will have to go to the physical location of the application ->Right click the Qvw file ->Properties ->Security

     Here under security tab, remove the Users and add the users to whom it should be visible and accessible.

Hi,

     Yes.

     Go to the folder location sales.

     Here right click on the QuarterSales.Qvw file and go to properties -> Security

Kaushik,

Actually the file which I have now is renamed from sales.qvw to sqles_new.qvw and 5 document CALs are assigned to  sales.qvw and one document CAL is assigned to sales_new.qvw and do I need to remove the user(document CAL) which is assigned to sales_new.qvw before going to security as I am confusing in this and if I make any changes to sales_new.qvw will it effect to sales.qvw . Could you please explain if you don't mind.
