Send Email to adminstrator on reload failure

Hi

Can any one help me to send mail from QVS(QEMC) when reloading a document fails.

yes, my previous post lacks some essentials: QV11 SR1 64 bit on Win 2008 R2 with IIS. No publisher license.

Is there any place where I can trace the email alert into log files?

this looks interesting! I haven't got any email (3 recipients set) at all, but I just reloaded the qvw on our backup server and emails got sent out. So I am checking also on differences between these servers.

Martin,

you are using one address line for all email adresses? I've used a line per address (using the add button in alert tab).

For Publisher users I would expect....

user1@company.com;user2@company.com;user3@company.com

....to be the correct approach.

For non-Publisher users I would add one line per address as swuehl suggests.

Hi Stefan,

Have you tried restarting the Qlikview Distribution Service?  Might be worth a try.

Also worth checking the settings for the task.  The log files for the tasks are stored in ProgramData/QlikTech/DistributionService.  The Configuration.xml file should show the AlertEmailRecipientList entries as entered in QMC.  If you look in the TaskExecutionHistory folder and sort by date descending you can identify the task GUID for the task, then look in Tasks folder and the XML for that GUID to see the setting for SendAlertMail.  I'm not sure where this setting is made - if anyone has any ideas?

thanks for the information.

The "weird" thing is, that alert emails have been sent out for one qvw, but not for another (reproducible).

Only differences I know between these two apps:

The one that did not send emails is located in a mounted folder and the task is dependent on successful execution of another (which executed successfully).

On our cold-standby server, things seem to run now, I am still checking on differences between the servers.

there should be a green + sign button at the upper right of the alert tab (same line as "Address").

Another place to check would be ProgramData/QlikTech/DistributionService/1/Log/{date}/{time - documentname}/TaskLog.txt - there should be an entry towards the bottom of the file showing Sending Alert mail if there's been a failure.
