Mayor problem - QVS "off_duty" - plz help

Hi,

can someone please help me with the following:

=> The service "QVS" is "off duty". Needless to say, we have mayor problems which might well be due to this.

On the statistics page, I find the following:

- Open Documents: None

- Active Users: None (which seems to be bullshit as I am using QlikView right now)

- Documents and users: Nothing

- Performance: There is a sack of statistical values here:

I guess that line "Cluster Count Exceeded" points to the problem - but I don't know what it means?

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

in another forum (labdecisionnel, a French forum) I found out that the reason for this problem can be (was in that instance) that there are two instances of QlikView using the same license_nr.

<=> How can that have happened and how can I find it out and fix it?

Best regards,

Not applicable

off duty is related to one license on two instances within the same network.

Maybe someone installed and used the license on a new server ? I dont know how you can check it 😕

Hi thomas,

that already helps a lot. I'll ask my superior. We will find a way of finding out whether such a thing might have happened.

In our company, no employee can just install anything, everything has to happen via IT, so the IT_guys must know about it.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

it seems to be all right - we identified a duplicate process and ended it.

Now the Mgmt_console can again retrieve the document_list, anyway. I'm just reloading some apps.

can you give more details on teh duplicate process you mentioned.

Hi Chandra,

well, I know little details - we had the message "Cluster Count exceeded" in the statistics (mgmt_console) and I found a post saying this was probably due to a second instance of QlikView requesting the same license nr. - I don't know where that can have come from.

There was a second instance of "qvb.exe" process which the IT_guys detected and stopped.

Then all went back to normal - the mgmt_console worked again, local access to QlikView_apps was re-enabled.

Hi,

Download PowerTools and run the QVSDetector and see if it show other servers on your network with the same license number.

Hi Bill,

Is there any special step to do running QVSDetector? I running it as administrator but it doesn't detect any server, even when I know there is my QV Server available

You have to make sure that the QVSNetRemote.dll is with the utility and make sure port 14747 is open.
