Autonumber Slow

Has anyone used autonumber on large datasets ?

I am finding that it is slow to load a table from SQL Server and rank them based on several fields.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Use Peek/Previous to create rank.... will give better performance compared to AutoNumber
