BUG New Straight Table from Qlik Visualization Bundle

Hi All,

Both on Qlik Sense on premise and SaaS there is a pretty annoying bug in the NEW Straight Table you can find underneath the Qlik Visualization Bundle package.

When enabling the Chart Exploration you can add or remove a dimension or measure dynamically.

You can also reorder the dimensions and measures inside that Chart Exploration section > click on 'Edit sheet' > click back on the table and permanently apply the changes to the Straight Table visualization.

However when you add an extra dimension or measure to the table you'll need to reorder all over again ...

In my situation I have a Straight Table with 53 dimensions and 22 measures and it took me quit some time to reorder them to the needs of the end user. I hold my breath when the end user demands another dimension or measure to that table.

Can this be fixed, Please :)?

Regards Peter

That sounds annoying. FYI, a bug reported here in the forums will not be communicated to R&D. If you feel you have a product defect, you should definitely open a support case with Qlik Support to get proper attention.

Hi @rwunderlich

I've created a case, thank you for the advice.
When there is an update I'll post it here.

Hi did anything happen with the support case? The re-ordering of columns in edit mode is really buggy - the pane is tiny and if you're dragging a dimension to the top of the list you have to drag it a few rows at a time and each time you drag it, it goes to back to the top of the list of fields. When you've got a bit table it drives you mad! I was wondering whether to put in a separate case for this

Hi @RoryMcHugh-Catalyst ,

Not really, I created a support case, but I eventually gave up after they kept asking for examples from support.

Anyone who works with that new Straight Table and starts to organize the columns sees and feels how many bugs there are.

Yes, it is frustrating to use. I've raised a few bugs about the straight table..

  1. I create multiple report template (with columns included and organized), apply filters, then I'd create a bookmark with the "Save Layout" option on. It works well if I were to apply the bookmark from the bookmark pane. But when I use a button to apply the bookmark, sometimes it doesn't sort the columns the way I've setup. Same problem if you were to pass in the bookmark id through the URL.
  2. Adding, deleting or editing columns in the straight table after the bookmarks (with save layout) are created, will not be included when the bookmark is applied.

Same bug reported, I've been told that it's working as designed.
I'm getting some good support from our presales, who's trying his best find some workarounds, but the bug is still there.

I think that right now the solution is just to not use the bookmark with chart exploration, as it's too unstable.

Hi, while waiting for Qlik to solve the bug, I found a workaround - not ideal, but less time consuming than re-arranging all the fields.

Before editing and adding any dimension / measure / etc, I'm ticking all elements in the chart exploration to be visible. Going into Edit mode and "Apply Changes". This seems to preserve the order when making changes. Then I add whatever needs adding, exit Edit mode. Move the new elements into their places using the Chart Exploration (better visibility than in Edit mode), untick any elements that by default need to stay hidden. Go back into Edit mode again and "Apply Changes".
