DataPrepAppCache folder

I'm working through some of the log files and I noticed a lot of QVD files are being stored and read from a DataPrepAppCache folder. This folder isn't available to me in the data connections window in the data load editor in Qlik Sense. 

I'm curious what it is used for? I don't see any documentation about this on the forums or through a Google search.
