Default Selection in QlikSense

Hi Community,

How to apply default selections on QlikSense Report. Eg: when user open the report for the first time, I want to apply a default selection as Latest Year as 2015. How can we do that in QlikSense?

I believe whatever you filter when you last save the qvf will be the default selection when you publish the app.

Thank you for responding..

Yes. If we save the app with default selections, while opening, it is having same selections in. Thank you.

At first I think to apply Bookmark for this default selections, but not possible to apply BM as there is no trigger functionality.

How about the case when you have a security applied (with dynamic data reduction)? Different users will see a different data sets and saved selection could be excluded from the view?

Any suggestions?

Vladimir

That time Default selection will be cleared. The users who has access to the data present in default selections, can only be able to get the Default selections shown up.

Eg: Region : North is selected as default selection.

Then only the North Region Users and Global Users can see the default Selection for Region.

Eg2: Default Selection for Year = 2015

This case it applies to all the Users. because all users have access to all years of data in their particular region.

It's all based on data availability of User. We can't apply different default selections to different Users.

Yes, I am familiar with this limitation and this is why I was asking for suggestions/workarounds. I need to have an ability to select items in random order for different users, etc (something similar to "Select In Field" action)... I do understand that QS is not designed to handle action the old-fashion way, but having "default selection" functionality on QS would be nice....

It is really disappointing  that Qlik does not have a solution for this problem and do not even have it scheduled to be released in the near future....
