Detect errors before reloading the script.

I bet every Qlik developer has experienced this at least once: You start a reload, the script runs—and after x minutes, it crashes. Because you overlooked and forgot an EXIT SCRIPT in some tab.

That gave me an idea:

What if you could catch potential errors—ones that would inevitably cause the script to abort—before the reload even starts?

The result is my browser extension “Qlik Sense LOAD Guard,” a “guard” that disables the reload button when an error occurs and highlights the errors.

These can include, for example:

  • Ambiguous field names in LOAD statements
  • Invalid JOINS
  • Missing tables, fields, or variables
  •

You can use the shortcut to display all shortcuts in the Qlik Sense Editor.

There’s also a basic code beautifier.

I’d really appreciate feedback on whether this extension is useful and can actually save time. I’d also welcome ideas for additional features, as well as reports of any issues or error messages.

The extension is available for Chrome and Firefox in their respective extension stores under the name “Qlik Sense LOAD Guard.”
