I am developing an equipment inventory reporting app whose purpose to is replace an existing custom metrics reporting system. The current system is a landing page where you select a date range and can select several dimensions related to location and type of equipment. Then there's a section where you can select to see different Performance, Status, and Maintenance details. You then select a Search button and the results pop up in a table format with a column for each of Performance, Status, and Maintenance items selected. This report can be exported to Excel.
I'm am thinking through how to create this and am wondering if you experts may have ideas. I'm new with QS, this is my first project developing a QS dashboard - I hope the first of many.
Here's what I was thinking:
1- VizLib Custom Report - Can the dimension selections be on a different sheet than the table output?
2 - Re-creating the "form" with variable inputs and passing them all to a table on a different sheet - is this possible?
3 - NPrinting - They want the same look, feel, and functionality and they're as they're used to so this may not be a good option
Thanks for reading and I would love to hear your thoughts.
R/ Lindsay
Let me take a crack at this. Just a few ideas to consider inline below:
First you can use the date picker tool to evaluate date ranges. See This conversation thread. https://community.qlik.com/t5/New-to-Qlik-Sense/How-to-create-Date-range-in-qlisense/m-p/2044068#M22...
1- VizLib Custom Report - Can the dimension selections be on a different sheet than the table output?
fs: I am not sure what this (vizlib custom report) is but I can tell you that when using Qlik objects, (filter panes for example) those selections made therein are visible on other sheets.
2 - Re-creating the "form" with variable inputs and passing them all to a table on a different sheet - is this possible?
fs: Yes
3 - NPrinting - They want the same look, feel, and functionality and they're as they're used to so this may not be a good option
fs: not sure what you mean here. If you have access to NPrinting, I would highly recommend developing your reports therein.
Further, you will find answers to these questions directly just be developing a simple app and seeing the selections and sheet behaviors.
If you are new to Qlik Sense, I'd recommend watching a few videos here
If you are new to NPrinting, check out these online resources
Finally, If you need formal training, you can use the links above to sign up for that as well. There are also a good deal of free online courses as well.
Kind regards...

Hi Frank! Thanks so much for the thoughtful response. I appreciate you sharing the helpful links. I plan to learn about NPrinting today from you links. I am still waiting on my Qlik account on their side so this is great preliminary prep.
Question about the date picker - is it possible to select month-to-month in addition to day-to-day?
Thanks, Frank!
No worries @LindsayCooper
Glad I could help.
Unfortunately that is not available based on my attempts to do that.
WYSIWYG in this case 🙂
If you wish, please post a feature request here about what you would like to see.
