How to remove the border on Variable input control?

When using a Variable input controller for a drop-down list selection there is an outer border visible on the object. How can I remove that border? there is no 'Style' option for the Variable input controller object.

That is not for variable, but that is more for object level and that cannot be removed until you used/designed existing themes where that control.
