Is there a way to changing a published app's theme?

Hope you are having a good day.

I come to you with a question: 

How can we change a published app's style/theme?

I want to change it from Sense Classic to Sense Focus.

I have read in various places that you cannot change the app theme on published apps. Why is that? What is blocking me? Is there a way around it?

I have tried duplicating the app, changing the styling, and doing a replace, but it doesn't change the style. I've read that you will have to delete the app and republish it as a new app. However, doing that will break all the links people have for the dashboard.

In my mind, it's just a simple CSS type style changing. Is it really an integral part of Qlik that if you change the app style it will break? Please help me understand 🙂
