Hi Team ,
There is a requirement from the client to migrate the dashboards from tableau to Qliksense and the existing tableau dashboards are using Amazon redshift database.
So I want to understand few things about this migration and need more information on this as a real scenarios.please clarify the below things if any one involved in this migration process.
Q1. What are the things to check when migrating the dashboards,I know we need to develop this in Qliksense from scratch.Just to know what factors are can help this smooth transition ?
Q2.How can we connect to the Amazon redshift from Qliksense ,what are the steps involved in setup of this connection and do we need any ETL in between Amazon redshift and Qliksense or not required?
Q3.I need to understand deeper about the Qliksense features like Associative data model and In memory management, can you please differentiate this bit deeper like association of tables will be default or ,how Qlik different from others on this ?
Q4.How can we set up the application layer or folder structure in Qliksense ? as I aware on Qlikview we have extract, transform and visualisation layer like 3 tier architecture, why I’m asking this question is like the apps stored in C drive and what about folder structure of qvd’s and dependency applications?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Saikrishna
Yes you will be rebuilding everything from scratch.
1) Learn Qlik Sense architecture and app development. Or hire someone who has this experience. You will not be successful unless someone familiar with Qlik Sense, and possibly Tableau, is involved. It will help to understand the organization/architecture of the source data because you're going to have to take that data and design Qlik Sense data models with it and those models will not be an exactly replicated between the two systems; you have to make sure there are no cyclical dependencies or synthetic keys in the QS data model.
2) Qlik sense has an extensive catalog of data connectors. I'm not familiar the one you need but I'm sure there is documentation somewhere for that.
3) You're not going to get a comprehensive answer to this question in a 2-3 paragraph Community response. You need to look for Qlik Sense training resources. They have online courses and many YouTube videos. You can also sign up for classes.
4) You can do a 3-layer architecture with Qlik sense. Depending on the volume of data you're dealing with and the frequency with which you have to refresh your apps, you might even consider a 2-layer approach. Your folder structures can be set up to best suit your needs. You will generally set up a data connector to point to the top-level folder of your structure. How the folders and data are stored below the top-level depend on how you design your apps.
Good luck,
Steven
