Section Access in Data Model and Application

Hi all,

For a particular dashboard we wanted to have section access for the data model and application.  We are planning to reuse the data model for another dashboard. 

We need section access for the model as we are supposed to manage the dashboard but should not see the data. When binary loading a file with section access I am getting an error. Does anyone have a solution on how we can restrict the access to a data model in Qlik Sense and still manage the release.

Hi Amar

Unfortunately,you cannot use section access and binary load on Qlik Sense Server.

Firstly,if you want to use section access,that means you must use Qlik Sense Server.However,binary load cannot be used in the Qlik Server but in Qlik Sense Desktop.Cuz when you use binary load,the specific qvf will be locked so that other users on the server cannot read it

Thanks for your reply. I was able to achieve the solution by applying section access in both data model and dashboard (Even though I won't recommend this). When u binary load a model with section access in an application which has section access, the application's section access overwrites the one from the data model.

FYI we can have binary load in both Qlikview / QlikSense in desktop / server environment. In Qlik Sense server you need application ID for binary load.

With the above solution I can restrict myself from viewing the confidential data in the data model.
