Union of two fields in same table

Hi,

I have 3 fields, Open Date , Close Date and Status.

Open Date	Close Date	Status
1/15/2017		Open
2/20/2017	2/20/2017	Close
2/22/2017		Open
3/25/2017	3/26/2017	Close
3/26/2017	4/11/2017	Close

i want to show the month for union of (open date ,close date) fields in a list box using expressions.Please help me to achieve this.

Desired Output:

Month
Jan
Feb
Mar
Apr

So that, if i click on "Feb",it displays 1 Open ticket and 1 close ticket in chart.
