Accessing tables from GitHub Repository

Hi,

I have forked a project in GitHub and I was trying to pull data from some of the tables, but I only seem to be able to access to metadata and not to the data tables of the repository.

Does anyone know how to do so?

Thanks in advance,

Umberto

Hello,

I have logged a ticket with Qlik Support and they confirmed repository tables in GitHub are not accessible. Only MetaData is.

I therefore logged a new feature request, feel free to add your comment by going here:

https://community.qlik.com/t5/Suggest-an-Idea/Ability-of-connecting-to-tables-stored-in-a-public-Git...

The way I am temporarily setting this up now is by creating a local repository with GitHub Desktop. The repository is phisically located in my Google Drive and in Qlik Sense App I have GoogleDrive connector pointing to it.

Update will not be automatic, but at least when I am accessing my PC with few clicks I can update the app.

Shame though Qlik have not thought about this until now, GitHub is the most popular Cloud collaborative resource and widely used....Anyway, hopefully they will make the change and get it feasible in the near future.

Please support my request by going to it so that people in R&D know the importance.

Hello Vikram,

yes, apparently there are no limitations, but if you access Qlik Sense Help on git hub you see that the only data you can pull is Meta Data related, which is in fact my experience...

there should be a way to load all tables from a certain repository (as long as limits is not reached)... how can I achieve that?

have you tried?

Thanks,

If that is something from a table which is listed and not providing data I can look into it, personally have not tested the connection.

What's the table name we are looking at

Hello Vikram,

absolutely, it would be great if you could try that out... It would help me so much, at least in understanding if I am doing something wrong....

I am trying to get data from a few tables, the first one is certainly locations.csv which is found at the following path: covid-19-data /public/data/vaccinations/

My repository: https://github.com/udedomenico/covid-19-data/tree/master/public/data/vaccinations

The original repository (I have forked mine from): https://github.com/owid/covid-19-data

SInce both they are public I do not mind accessing either one... the path and the tables are the same.

Thanks in advance, please let me know how it goes...
