Existing ODBC connections have stopped - how do I get them working?

I have an existing Qlik Cloud setup with an on prem data gateway.

I load data daily from SharePoint, Azure, and ODBC.

On the 1st of October the ODBC connections stopped working - the others work as expected. We rebooted the server (it's usually a quick win) but the ODBC connections were not restored.

Qlik can see that the gateway is connected. When I edit the connection in the managed space I am unable to see any of the ODBC sources, and an error is thrown if I wait:

I have

  • verified that the service is running
  • verified that port 443 is open
  • verified the ODBC connections from the gateway server to the various data sources
  • updated the gateway
  • uninstalled and reinstalled the gateway
  • checked the .NET versions (4.8.09037, 6.0.36, 8.0.16)

My only hint is this gateway log entry:

I am assured by Infra that no patches were rolled out that week.

How do I get the data gateway to see those ODBC connections again?

Investigation shows that Qlik Cloud talks to "Qlik Data Gateway - Direct Access" on port 443.

"Qlik Data Gateway - Direct Access" talks to an ODBC iterator service on port 5050. This is the communication that failed.

It looks like a new service was installed that has taken this port.

I have moved the ODBC iterator service from port 5050 to 5052. This has resolved the issue.
