SAP are sending out note: 3255746 - Unpermitted usage of ODP Data Replication APIs

SAP are sending out messages to customers regarding new rules and state that extracts are/can be regarded seen as unpermitted.

The "official" response from Qlik doesn't really help to determine if the customer need to make changes or what the options are, beside challenging the change.

This is a fairly small company that use QlikView and Qlik's SAP connector.

Can anyone help me shed some light on this to someone who have heard about the SAP connector but never used it... 🙂

I would approach it from Qlik perspective. Qlik is rich in usage and for companies using it, it acts as a third party tool that encompasses multiple usage. Interacting with SAP for data extraction, its key component is the usage of Qlik’s SAP connector, specifically when using ODP-based data replication.

I have seen in cyber security one key thing that warrant rule review as in the above issue is probably a CVE update, others incorrect license or incompatibilities.

Probable solutions I would recommend a reconfiguration or review of the connection setup to address any issue relating to CVE updates, also testing native connectors can resolve any incompatibilities.

I'm not sure what you are trying to explain here but it seems like you have missed the core question.

This is a customer who are paying for Qlik licenses and a Qlik's SAP connector license. They have received message from SAP that they are changing the way data should be extracted.

Let me rephrase the question/s:

Is the Qlik SAP connector violating the way data will be allowed to be extracted going forward?

If it is, exactly what need to change from the customers viewpoint?

Why is there no clear information from Qlik regarding this?

Why isn't Qlik updating the customer with relevant useful information, about their purchased licenses, so they know if or what action to take?
