I am doing a simple proof of concept. Using Cloudera's quickstart image in Docker Hub, I was able to quickly set up a simple Hadoop/Hive within a Docker container. I exposed the port 10000 to localhost so that HiveServer2 can be connected through localhost, and I was able to make a connection to Hive using other clients (e.g. JDBC driver with Squirrel SQL).
However, when trying to make a Hive connection with Qlik Sense Desktop, it failed with the error: "Connection Failed: Please check values for Username‚ Password‚ Host‚ and other properties."
Below are the details of my environment:
OS - Windows
CDH version - 5.7.0
Hive version - 1.1.0
Qlik Hive Connector Authentication Mechanism - No Authentication
