App Opening Performance

Hi All,

We have been observing a weird issue with some of our users with respect to App Loading / Opening in the hub.

The App cache Time is set to 8 hours (default)

Scenario:

When a user tries to open an application it took around 3+ minutes to load a small app around 500 mb.

It takes usually 1 minute for that app to load on memory.

For the user this app kept loading (showing Qlik bubbles for long time)

Then when the user closed the browser and opened the url again, it got opened in 5 seconds.

Browser used: Edge

It would be great if someone could share insights as to what might be the issue.

Is it browser related issue ?

How can we investigate to confirm upon this.

Has any one faced this issue ?

Kind Regards,

Swapneel

Hi, @SwapneelGolapkar

When opening your application it will already save it in memory, as you informed, when opening the URL again it loads the data quickly as it has already been processed.

Even if the application is not relatively large in the data model, there are several biases to take into account. Such as the calculations used in your front-end expressions, how this data is being loaded, you have the data model viewer which can give you several indices. You can also analyze the performance of your server when opening your application.
Or even use “Document Analyzer” monitoring - Qlik sense for Qlik Cloud - App Analyzer to help you see possible bottlenecks in your application.

Of course you can also open a case directly with Qlik to further investigate your case, but I believe that by refining/researching in more detail you should find the reason.

Hi @SwapneelGolapkar

if you are using client managed you have the possibility to "preload" apps. I have made some very good experience with this feature. Yes you have more memory consumption but the user satisfaction is way higher.

This may not solve the root cause, but it could be helpful feature.
