What persistence type is recommended for a single node Qlik Sense environment?

With Single node Sync persistence will work without any issues however you might want to go with shared persistence as Qlik is going to decommission shared architecture with next major release i.e. 4.0 in Jun release.

What Jai said is true. Keep in mind the difference between the two architectures (sync. vs shared) is related on who they connect the nodes to each other's (sync. replicate the infos on each node, shared use a central repo/FS shared between all nodes), so in a single node there is no difference on the two configurations.
