I contacted the firm that provided the driver for Qlik. They hooked me up with a trail version of the driver so that I could proceed. After that I looked for - and found - a valid driver within the organisation, so I didn't need to solve the root cause.
Strange that this kind of error can occur to begin with: doesn't Qlik pay for its third party licences or what does it really mean?
